Mr Scruff - Keep It Unreal - Preston - 6th July 2017

Thursday 6th July sees Ninja Tune's finest Mr Scruff bringing his Keep It Unreal night to Preston's LiVe Venue.

As a DJ, Mr. Scruff plays across the board, flitting between soul, funk, hip hop, jazz, reggae, latin, african, ska, disco, house, funk, breaks, soundtracks and loads more. As a producer he makes music that draws on these influences, with a large dose of cheek and good humour. His cartoon drawings illustrate gig flyers, record sleeves and CD covers, and usually accompany him at gigs as live animated visuals.

When we look back at clubbing history in years to come, it's safe to say now that Mr Scruff will be heralded as one the most inspirational DJs of our generation. In terms of standards he's up there with the likes of Ron Hardy, Larry Levan, David Mancuso, Francis Grasso, Frankie Knuckles etc.

Listen to recording of the night on Mixcloud...

We have featured Mr Scruff live in the mix at The Big Chill and Beat-Herder a few times now via the Dig Deep on Preston FM show, however it's not that often we have this calibre of DJ play live on our door steps - we know there are more than a few people buzzing about this.

Doors open at 7pm and Mr Scruff is doing a 4 hour set. The venue are putting in extra sound and Mr Scruff will have his trademark visuals in effect. Check out his site for more: www.mrscruff.com/

Our own Paul Thornton is on warm up duties, and there is no doubt he'll be digging extra hard this week in preparation for what could well be the highlight in Preston's summer clubbing calendar.
