Dig Deep with Leeroy 031111

Dig Deep with Leeroy 031111 by digdeepradioshow

This one's for the beat heads, the diggers, the funk lovers, true hip hop fans i.e. anyone that has even bobbed their head to the sound of A Tribe Called Quest, EPMD, Gangstar, DJ Premier, Big Dady Kane, Ultramagnetic MCs, J Dilla, De La Soul, The Pharcyde, Common, Nas, Pete Rock, Slum Village, Public Enemy, Q-Tip..

This week's guest is local producer/dj Leeroy aka Lewah. Buying records since 1988/89, before the early UK dance scene kicked off, Leeroy's passion was proper hip hop.  A regular face on the club scene throughout the 90s whilst continuing to collect old school hip hop, Leeroy spent the mid to late 90s going back to buy the soul and funk tracks that were sampled on his favourite records.

As a producer, Leeroy has been collaborating with long time friend and studio boffin Micky G for many years now, and Leeroy's guitar and turntable skills are a prominent feature of their sound.

Originally putting stuff out as the Reel DJs on Acid Jazz's sub label Athletico.  Tracks from heir 4 track EP were included on the labels Bluenote Club Culture LP and independent breaks compilation (Jumpin & Pumpin).

Quietly working away in the studio with his friends for time, Leeroy also did the cuts on the Cornershop LP back in the day.

More recently the talented Leyland based outfit has been working under the production guise of Dr Freebs,  releasing a range of lounge, downtempo and vocal drum and bass on netaudio label iD.EOLOGY.
